Dear Rice Fans and Former Players,

As most of you know, for me life begins on opening day. It is a great time to be a Rice Owl. The success of the Rice football team and the general good feeling on campus has us looking forward to the coming season.

We feel that we have a special group of student-athletes, both in ability and character. The season is long and evolutionary. We know that there will be ups and downs and persistence and hard work will be as important as ability.

I feel that the team and Reckling Park foster a strong sense of community. I welcome you all to come to as many games as possible and watch this team meld and grow. We believe we have a chance to go to Omaha and your support can make a difference.
