He's most famous for his complete game victory in the championship game of the 2003 College World Series, bringing Rice's first ever team championship to South Main. He was also a three-time All-America and first round draft pick of the New York Mets. He's experienced life in the big leagues and he's working his way back. He'll be checking in with RUBPA all season. He's Philip Humber, aka The Shark.

Sweep!!! I love seeing the guys win, but it makes it even better when I can talk crap to the front office guys here in New Orleans about how much the Owls own Tulane. On top of that, it is always nice to drum Baylor. If the guys keep this up, that number one seed in the tournament is looking good. We know how important those seedings can be. Go out there and support the guys against Memphis and keep that streak alive.

Speaking of streaks, it would be nice if the Zephyrs could get on a little roll. After a rough home stand, we went about .500 on the road (as usual), and just can't seem to get on track recently. We win one, lose two, or vice versa constantly. But that's the way it goes I guess. Plus, it is hard to complain about splitting a series in Vegas. When you combine the light air, hard ground, and the lights of the Strip calling your name, it makes for an extremely difficult environment to win as a visiting team. I'm sure a few of our guys would have a tough time remembering much about this trip. Thankfully we have an off day today in New Orleans to recover.

It was my first visit to Sin City, and I'm happy to say that I didn't go broke. It's all about setting limits. The one thing I did splurge on was food. There are some unbelievable restaurants in Vegas. If you like sushi, I have to recommend Japonais, located in the Mirage.

The best thing that happened on the field for me was my first professional hit. Bases loaded, full count, two outs... triple to right center field. Some of the guys said I looked like Jose Reyes flying around second base, which was nice to hear... but I have always thought of myself more as a Janish than a Reyes...

Until next time,
Go Owls!!!
